Illustrating for the LEGO magazines is always a little funny, since they're targeted at a younger audience than the products they depict. I'll get an illustration brief like "the heroes are threatened by evil spirits of the dead animating heavy machinery and the rotting corpses of their best friends" followed up by "the magazine is for five-year-olds; make sure it isn't scary."
LEGO Club Lodge Poster
LEGO Club's farewell party, December 2016
The LEGO Club Lodge scene was the centerfold poster in what was meant to be LEGO Club Magazine's final issue in December 2016, serving as a farewell to LEGO Club Max (foreground in the Max holiday sweater). Of course this depended on LEGO Life being up and running in January 2017, which it wasn't, and LEGO Club zombied along for another couple of months before being put to rest for real.
The scene is populated with minifigures from the 2016 line, as well as a couple of historical throwbacks - 2012's Skater Girl is grinding the bannisters with 1997's Pepper Roni - and the dusty paintings at the top of the stairs are all minifigure portraits of of the Club staff at LEGO.

LEGO Life Magazine, April 2020
After months of sky's-the-limit brainstorming by LEGO Club teams across multiple continents, LEGO Life had its exciting reveal in Spring 2017: an exact copy of LEGO Club, minus Max the minifigure.
